White Kaleidoscope [5:00] 2017.

A work for piano and electroacoustics.

I created a soundscape for the audience where they are surrounded by a whirlwind of sound, coming from different areas around the room, achieved through quadrophonic sound. The piano is a constant, central sound, contributing to the ambient atmosphere. I intend for it to create a serene energy, but that is also contemplative to the listener, amongst the electronically produced sounds.

With this piece, I hope to evoke a sense of deep listening and sensations of floating in the air, unaware of where the ground is. I hope through my piece that I stimulate relaxation and contemplation, and perhaps an aid for meditation and awareness. I hope to take the listener to a place in their imagination, where they are free to let their thoughts roam. I want the listener to leave the performance hall, and escape into a world of their own contemplation.
