Recipe Type: Snacks | Makes: 2 cups

Ingredients

  • Cherries: 1 lb bag, pitted

  • Ascorbic Acid: approximately 1 -2 tsp

  • Cane Sugar: 1 tbsp (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and pit your cherries. This is quite time-consuming so set aside some time to do this step!

  2. If you have a dehydrator, place your cherries on the dehydrator tray, and sprinkle with cane sugar if using. Dehydrate until fully dried out and sticky.

  3. If you are drying in the oven, preheat your oven to 200. Place your cherries on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, and sprinkle the cane sugar if using. Check every 30 minutes, until they are dried out and sticky.

  4. Place your dried cherries into a bowl, and sprinkle with some ascorbic acid, little by little. Toss to combine, and continue until all cherries are coated and you’ve reached your desired level of sour. Enjoy!

You can sub the ascorbic acid with citric acid, just note, that citric acid is slightly more sour!
