Vanilla & Lime Mulled Wine

Infused with bay leaf, nutmeg, cinnamon, honey, and cranberries, it's the perfect seasonal recipe, offering a unique twist on the classic mulled wine.

Recipe Type: Drinks | Serves: Makes 4 Cups

Ingredients

  • Red Wine: 1 bottle (750ml)

  • Cognac: 1/4 cup

  • Limes: 2, one juiced, one sliced

  • Cranberries: 1/2 cup

  • Honey: 2 tbsp

  • Bay Leaf: 1

  • Cinnamon Stick: 1

  • Nutmeg: 1/4 tsp

  • Pure Vanilla Extract: 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. In a pot, combine lime juice, lime slices, honey, bay leaf, cinnamon stick, nutmeg, and vanilla extract.

  2. Add a little bit of wine, just to cover the bottom of the pot, and slowly heat and stir until the honey is melted. Careful not to use too high of a temperature so it comes to a simmer or boil.

  3. Add cranberries, cognac and the rest of the wine to the pot. Gently continue heating without boiling, then cover and leave to sit at least 20 minutes.

  4. Using a ladle, pour into mugs or double-walled glasses and enjoy!

You can sub out the honey with maple syrup for a similar taste. 
The best red wines to use for mulled wine are Garnacha,  Merlot or Zinfandel!
