Seitan Beef and Broccoli

Indulge in this quick and simple meal that’s packed with protein. In under 15 minutes, savour this plant-based twist on a beloved classic, topped with as many sesame seeds as your heart desires.

Recipe Type: Main |Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • Broccoli: 5 cups of florets

  • Seitan Loaf: 3 cups of strips (You can buy storebought seitan, or make your own!)

  • Olive Oil: 1 tsp

  • Soy Sauce: 2 tbsp

  • Ginger: 1” chunk, minced

  • Garlic: 2 cloves, minced

  • Flour: 1 tbsp

  • Maple Syrup: 1 tsp

  • Sesame Seeds: for garnish

Instructions

  1. Chop broccoli into florets.

  2. If your seitan isn’t pre-chopped already, chop it into 1cm strips.

  3. Make your soy-ginger sauce. Mix soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and maple syrup. Add in the flour and whisk until smooth. Add some water if it’s too thick!

  4. Heat a pan on medium-high heat and add your olive oil. Add in the seitan and sauté until the seitan starts becoming crispy.

  5. In the meantime, steam your broccoli for about 5-7 minutes. (depending on the size of the chunks).

  6. Once the broccoli is steamed, add it to the pan with the seitan strips. Pour in the soy-ginger sauce and toss until evenly coated

  7. Garnish with sesame seeds, and enjoy!
